How to make a transparent Steam profile
The see-through profiles you see on Steam aren't a setting. Most of them use a game profile bought from the Points Shop, and the one players point to most is from Dying Light 2.
How to do it
- Open the Dying Light 2 page in the Points Shop and find the item called Dying Light 2 Stay Human Profile. It was 10,000 points when we checked in October 2026.
- Buy it with your points. A game profile is a bundle, usually with a background, an avatar, a frame and a theme.
- Open Edit Profile on Steam and switch the game profile on, then save.
- Players report the see-through look comes from the theme. If you want a different background, avatar or frame, change those and leave the theme as it is.
- Check your profile in a web browser and in the Steam client. They don't always look the same.
Worth knowing
- This is based on what players share on the Steam forums. Valve doesn't document it, and it could change.
- Other game profiles are see-through too, but less so. Some players say it's worth testing before you spend points.
- With see-through panels, the background sits right behind your text and showcases. A calm background keeps them readable, so we keep a list of calm Steam backgrounds.
- You earn 100 Steam points for each US dollar you spend on Steam.
Questions

- Most use a game profile from the Points Shop. The one players name most often is the Dying Light 2 Stay Human Profile, whose theme makes the profile panels see-through so more of the background shows.

- Players on the Steam forums say yes: switch the game profile on, then swap the background, avatar and frame for your own and leave its theme in place.
- Is there a free way to do it?
- Not one that lasts, as far as we know. Some limited-time event themes have looked see-through, but they expire after the event.
