The short version
Every tool on Design Your Profile runs in your browser. The images and videos you use are processed on your own computer and are never uploaded to us. You don't need an account, and there's no mailing list. If you choose to sign in through Steam and save designs online, we keep what's listed under Accounts below.
What gets stored on your device
- Steam Profile Studio saves your project, including any images you add, in your browser so a refresh doesn't lose your work. Reset in the Studio or clearing your browser data removes it.
- Your browser keeps a copy of the video encoder (about 25 MB) so it doesn't download again on every visit.
- If you use Remove background, the model (7 to 176 MB) downloads from Hugging Face and its runtime from jsDelivr, and your browser keeps a copy. Your image is still processed on your computer and isn't sent anywhere.
What we collect
We count page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It doesn't use cookies or follow you around other sites. It records things like which page was visited, where the visit came from, the country and the browser.
Points Shop items and Steam images load straight from Valve's servers, so Valve sees those requests like any other visit to Steam.
Loading your Steam profile
When you import a profile into Steam Profile Studio, the link you paste goes to our server, which fetches that public profile page from Steam and passes it back to you. We keep a copy for up to 10 minutes so repeat loads are quick, and nothing beyond that. We can't see anything that isn't public on Steam.
Accounts
Signing in is optional and only needed to save designs online or share them in the profile library. You sign in on Steam's own page, so we never see your password. Steam tells us your Steam ID, and we read your public Steam name and avatar. We keep:
- your Steam ID, name and avatar link, when you joined and when you last signed in;
- the designs you save online: their title, who can see them, and the design itself (Points Shop items, text and settings);
- the pictures you used in a design you save online, shrunk to the size Steam shows, plus a small picture of the design for the library. They're stored with Cloudflare, can be opened by anyone who has their link, and are deleted when no saved design uses them any more (videos are never uploaded);
- which designs you liked or reported;
- a sign-in cookie, which only identifies your session on this site.
Private designs are only shown to you. Link-only designs open for anyone with the link. Public designs appear in the library with your Steam name and avatar. Public designs never include a Steam profile you imported.
Free accounts' designs, and their pictures, are deleted 3 months after the last sign-in. You can delete any design, or your whole account and everything in it, from My designs at any time.
Supporter plan
The supporter plan is paid through Stripe, on Stripe's own checkout page, so your card details never reach us. Stripe tells us whether your subscription is active and when it renews, and we keep your Stripe customer ID to link it to your account. When a plan ends, designs over the free limit are deleted 14 days later unless you subscribe again. Deleting your account cancels the subscription.
Advertising
There are no ads. If that changes, this page gets updated first, and visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland will be asked before any ad cookies are set.
Children
Design Your Profile is for a general audience and isn't aimed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
